URef Matchday 16 Review

Best Decision of the Week: Michael Oliver’s VAR Decision to overturn Anthony Taylor’s 19th minute on-field decision.

Oliver astutely adjudged that Silva impeded Rashford and awarded United a Penalty.

88% of Fans agreed with Oliver’s VAR decision! Oliver is one of the best Referees in the PL in terms of Key Decision Accuracy and this particular decision exemplified his class.

Referee of the Week: Mike Dean

Mike Dean received a 3.89 / 5 Match Performance Rating for his performance in Arsenal’s win over West Ham.

Mike Dean had a very unconventional performance - He distributed just two Yellow Cards and blew just 18 Fouls. It is no secret that the majority of Premier League fans prefer to see more of a free-flowing contest and Mike Dean allowed just that in this Fixture. Surprisingly, Dean also managed to stay out of the spotlight, with no Key Decisions or moments of controversy marring the fixture.

Arsenal fans may never like Mike, but surprisingly, his record with Arsenal in the Premier League is undeniably very solid.

Matchday 14 Key Decision Approval Rating: 75%

Another brilliant week for Key Decisions! Well done to the Referees for a sensational Matchday. 6 out of the 8 Key Calls were deemed correct in the eyes of fans - well above the average Key Decision Accuracy!

Insight of the Week: Predicting a Draw in Watford V Crystal Palace under Atkinson

The Draw King: When Martin Atkinson Referees in the PL, a hefty 29% of Matches are drawn. Atkinson has the highest Draw Rate of all PL Referees.

Strong Chemistry: Chris Kavanagh + Liverpool

Liverpool + Kavanagh = 100% Win Rate: Kavanagh is Liverpool’s best Referee. Liverpool have played 6 Premier League fixtures under Kavanagh and have Won all 6!

Team Stat of the Week: All Red at the Etihad

Three Key Decisions were made in the Manchester Derby - They all (correctly) went the way of Manchester United! Whilst City fans can't really feel too aggrieved in this Fixture, there is a fair argument to suggest they have been significantly hampered by Kei Decisions going against them this season. URef is launching a new stat in the coming weeks called Team Fortune, which will show just how unlucky they have been, as well as every other Premier League Team. Stay tuned!

Spooky Stat of the Week: Home Team Boost with Coote in the Middle

When David Coote Referees in the Premier League, the Home Team Wins a whopping 58% of Matches - Bolstered this weekend when he took charge of Newcastle’s Victory over Southampton. Coote has the third highest Home Team Win Rate of all PL Referees! Away Team’s, beware of Coote!
